Launch Day Recap + Next Steps

Yesterday was a great day to be an author.

Whalers, my debut novel, was released on Amazon. The feedback, support, and sharing done by many on social media was overwhelming. Let’s take a look at how we did, throughout the day.

8:00 AM – My first posts were made to social media. Links were shared on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and this website.

12:30 PM – Whalers was officially the #1 Top New Release in the Contemporary Fiction and Literature Section. It would remain there all day long.

2:45 PM – Whalers remained the #1 New Release, but climbed all the way up to #32 on the Best-Sellers list.

6:00 PM – My website, kylefarnworth.com, hit 500 clicks on the day, and 168 independent visitors.

7:30 PM – Whalers cracked the Top 25 Best-Sellers for Contemporary Fiction and Literature.

11:00 PM – kylefarnworth.com cracked over 1,000 clicks and 400 independent visitors.

11:30 PM – I went to bed for some much needed shut eye. Not bad for day one, if I do say so myself.

Many people have been asking about SALES. How many copies did we sell? It’s hard for me to say just yet. I do not get sales information until the novel SHIPS to the purchaser, so depending on what kind of shipping was done, I won’t have that information right away. When I have more to share, I will be happy to!

Now — Where do we possibly go from here?

My biggest next step is REVIEWS! I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs that only 1% of readers leave reviews, but Whalers desperately needs them on both Amazon and Goodreads. As of this moment, there are 5 reviews on Amazon. I’d love to see that number grow over the next few days.

As of now, we have fallen to the #2 Hot New Release (Damn you Animal Farm!), but that’s okay! We’re just excited to be on the front page.
